Rant: are thee #Dell or a #Windows #Laptop issues?:
- not properly shutting down when folded. -Starting back up while in backpack (plus points for windows update and then heat death)
- Not properly recovering from hibernate
I just had to plug in an external battery (for phones) to get my laptop to properly start up again.
@MartinTilo I had this on a previous company laptop - I never figured out whether it was windows or the company spyware causing it, then after a while they gave me a macbook
@Tak it's happening to me on company and private Dells.
That said, it also happened on Dual Boot MacBooks on which I only used Windows, which I've always attributed to Windows on Mac via Dual Boot not being a great idea for a variety of reasons.
My private non-Dell doesn't have the issue...
@MartinTilo @Tak My partners work laptop does the same thing (Thinkpad + Windows).
Could a common thread in the issue cases be Windows + that Intel chipset with high interactivity?
Something something broken remote management features?
@MartinTilo I had a Dell laptop about 10 years ago with the exact same issue
I'd open my backpack and find it fiery-hot because it decided to turn itself on again
I'm using a Chillblast now that works just fine, so it may be something related to Dell?
