yesterday was a productive day! kinda.

so we had to go get my grandma because she had to vote for president and stuff and she was far away from there. we woke up really early so my parents and sisters could vote as well.

we got home at like 21:00 so i didn't have time to make much progress, but i did something.

i managed to get the menu screen working. now there's 3 buttons, play, options and exit. since currently the only game mode is without any opponents it just takes you directly to that.

i got bad news and good news

bad: cardflex online and against opponents will have to be delayed. bc idk how to do it lol

i'll keep researching though, by the end of this month i hope to have implemented it.

good: everything else will continue development as normal, and there will still be a practice mode, like without opponents, just you practicing your reflexes

here's a poll. should i release it with or without the delayed part?

the code works fine

but in 3 hours i haven't figured out how to make it actually turn based

currently the code works only when you press the up arrow, there's no opponent. the idea is that when you press it, it counts one up, places a random card, and then it's the opponent's turn. i haven't figured out how to do that yet. i think i'll need help actually. suggestions?

also i made the music play in game. it's currently just one track (i haven't made all of them yet, just the ones i need and then i'll make it feel more diverse)

now i need to get the sprites in there, and make the menu, options, and other cool stuff.

alright! i got the card random picker working. it picks a random card. i also got the controls working. press the up arrow, and it selects a card, and the card counter goes up. so say, you did that and you got a 3, and it counted A. then you do it again, 7, 2. and then 3, 3. when the counter and the random card are the same value, you press return and space at the same time. if you did it right, congrats! if you did it wrong, aww :(

so yeah that's done. now i need to make it actually playable.

also i renamed it "Never give up hope, number one! Like a King!"...can you guess why? :)

also when i announced the game's idea i said it was based on the english deck. i thought it had the joker card but no that's the french deck that's basically the same but with joker cards. just put that there to clear stuff up!

the synthetizer thingy was made using a 3x oscilator

the percussion was made with a soundfont i downloaded a while ago. i don't remember where and i don't have it in my history but i have it

and the rest is just me creating patterns and placing notes on the patterns to make it sound cool

plus, the tracks take no time to make, maximum like 1 and a half hours. and imo they're bops. i feel like i can pull this off in a week and it will be awesome! i'm really confident about cardflex :)

i have like 5 or 6 ideas for new tracks for the game

i just need one of them but i really wanna put all 6 of them in

each one has different references to other songs. im telling you this is gonna be a good game! or that's how i envision it.

the best partis that it shouldn't take too long to be done. i just gotta make a simple and nice menu, sound events, some random generation and i'm done!
