Another interesting detail to take into account when thinking about upgrading your network to 10G is disk speed. When the 7200RPM HDDs in your NAS can read/write at 80-270MB/s, where are you going to get the data to transfer at 1250MB/s? The NAS's own performance test says my HDDs can do 80MB/s, but the NVMe SSD used for I/O caching can do 830 MB/s, which would be ~6.64Gbps. 10G remains elusive...

Unless sequential read speed tests on remote NVMe M.2 drives is the real killer application for 10G home networks? 🤔
