Paper prototypes for video game design. 

One of the things I do as a game designer is paper prototypes of game play mechanics. They're basically micro-games built with just note cards, some dice, and some pente stones. I put the game ideas down and flesh them out on a note card. I play them with a few friends to help figure out where the "fun" is in the mechanic. One even went so far as to be prototyped on gamecrafters. Here's a picture of my game box with about 10 games.#gamedev

Well this is cool. Back in college I made a visual simulation of a simple processor to use as a teaching aid for a lab course. The goal was to show what's going inside the processor as it executes instructions. Almost 2 decades later some students have made a new implementation that does the same thing with actual hardware. I never expected the project to live this long.
