Seems like people are moving around between social media apps so new profile link options now available on your account settings page: You can set Bluesky, Mastodon, and Threads accounts by revealing the "More Links" section. All of these links will appear on your profile page.
Links added will have "rel=me" inserted on your profile so you can get a green check mark on your mastodon profile!
One more update: The `fediverse:creator` metatag is now inserted into game and blog post pages that you have authored when you assign a Mastodon username to your account.
This will enable itch.io link embeds on Mastodon to show author attribution of your fediverse account. Learn more here: https://blog.joinmastodon.org/2024/07/highlighting-journalism-on-mastodon/
You must opt-in to the domains that are eligible for attribution from Edit Profile > Public Profile > Verification (and scroll to the bottom, add itch.io and your own subdomain)
@itchio@mastodon.gamedev.place will this only work with Mastodon® or do you intend to support other things on the fediverse as well
@eri Our goal was to address the most common use-case since many people are moving their socials around right now. In the future we may revisit with broader support for more fediverse platforms. If your needs are different then we recommend putting relevant links in the content of your profile
@eri @itchio right now, author attribution website allow-list is only implemented by mastodon, so that part will only work on mastodon (you cannot get recognized author attribution when not using mastodon), it's up to fedi software developers to implement that elsewhere
as for linking the profile, this will work with misskey and its forks (as they use the same link format for users as mastodon), however, it won't work with akkoma (as itch.io assumes mastodon-like link format, which doesn't work with akkoma, rather than performing a webfinger lookup to determine the link: docs.joinmastodon.org/spec/webfinger/)
@itchio it doesn't seems to work, I can't see the tag in the html, maybe it takes time to appear?
For example: https://pikario.itch.io/mini-beaker
@oblomov Pikario specifically mentioned checking for it in the HTML.
@itchio Aaa thank you! <3 Right after "this is great", my second thought when I read the first post was "now if only they added the creator metatag as well."
<3
@itchio oh this rules
@itchio Very cool news! Thank you for supporting the fediverse.
