I used to really like playing board and tabletop games where the odds were completely stacked against you, there was a good chance your character would go mad or die before the end, and it was mostly about holding back entropy for a few moments longer before the inevitable collapse, but for some reason I find it hard to find the enthusiasm for them anymore

The Death in Deep Space book is the best add on. For every way you can die, the book has a full description of exactly how it happened.
