Asking $650 for GDC Vault after having collected ungodly amounts of money from people who attended in person is embarrassing.
That's not how you support an industry and make it stronger. Those session videos should just be posted to YouTube for all to view and learn.
@johnbart To be fair, everything goes free after two years on GDC Vault, so it's only the most recent stuff that's paywalled.

@johnbart There's always some nonsense hype-chasing filler (web3, AI gen, whatever) each GDC, but there's a ton of excellent stuff that doesn't age much (or at all). Another reason why it's no biggie to wait a bit.
My fave thing is to do a search for recent or older games I loved and watch all the behind the scenes gold that's now freely available.

Considering that InformaTech, the division of Informa (owners of GDC), posted a profit of US$90m in 2023, I reckon that is something doable.
But that would lead to less profits for shareholders, so, we know that's unlikely to happen...
