Hey, I'm mike, new to gamedev, really new to mastodon. I'm working on my first game, it's a funky, run/jump/climb 2d atmospheric platformer sci fi casualvania called Dormant Utility Service Technician. It's about an intergalactic utility worker, finding and fixing things, and breakdancing with aliens, in space. There's a demo on itch, f2p in browser (or DL win/mac) mikeb10.itch.io/dormantutility

I gave the chunky purple terrain a complicated collider so that it slows your movement down, sometimes you can get stuck in it and you have to jump out - adds a little bit of chaos to otherwise very normal platforming.

been spending most of my time working on scenery and learning to pixel art... i have no idea what i'm doing and i refuse to learn properly -just embracing the innocence

Worked on creatures this week. This one is pretty aggressive and territorial, but at least it won't chase you from off-screen.

My game, Dormant Utility Service Technician is part side-scrolling and part top-down adventure. Here's some footage of me doing some sweet jukes in a top-down area.

Some platforming gameplay from Dormant Utility Service Technician.
Pro Tip: Stay out of the sludge!
