@nuzcraft interesting read! I'm considering exactly the very three same things these days! A media server (will my tv be able to get files from it? will I need a raspberry or similar for that?), switching my laptop to Linux (mint, probably, although there are very interesting options I know about thanks to a friend of mine) and start writing a blog and tinkering with astro or 11ty.
@playmedusa for what it’s worth the plex server has been very low maintenance and works well with an app on my smart tv - I built a pc for it, but we test drove it with my partners old MacBook and it seemed to work fine
@nuzcraft so you need the Plex app on the tv. And a Plex account? Would be nice to have something self-contained that doesn't require external services...
@playmedusa yep, account+app - there’s probably something out there for that lets you handle it all on your own, I wasn’t ready to delve that far
