Ok, so I tried Pacific Drive, but only did the first run for now. The game's fun so far. I like the mood. Feels a bit like Backrooms without actual backrooms - it's the same kind of creepiness.

However, I side with people who say there should be the option to save during the run. It's 1 a.m. and I should be in bed, but I didn't want to lose my progress, and the run was taking longer than expected (namely about 3 hours), partly because the inability to save made me ultra-cautious.

@jzillw that first run has a zone effect turned on that the zone never collapses until you trigger it. When you get past the tutorial you only have 10-15 minutes per zone before they collapse on themselves and you either need to escape or continue to the next area (more dangerous zones can also start collapsing right when you enter), so saves wouldn't be useful for anything other than resource scumming once you get to the actual runs.

@raptor85 Good to know, thanks. Also seems they've basically messed up their onboarding a little, because the game starts with an atypical experience, whereas the regular main loop is time-constrained.

@jzillw eh, I think the intent for the first mission is just "get comfortable with the driving mechanics, finding buildings, learning how to exit." When it starts being timed after that it really eases you into it a few minutes is more than enough time to loot most early areas, then by the time you get to mid areas you generally start each zone making a plan for your route. You also get infinite time on certain story missions later as well. There IS checkpointing just not within the current zone
