Shader problem time. I've been using a fake hole as described in this video: youtube.com/watch?v=cHhxs12ZfS
However, now I find I need my ball to be semi-transparent, and this technique doesn't work for that, since it relies on the ball being rendered before the surface the hole is in.

An alternative is using stencil buffers to fake the hole, like in this video: youtube.com/watch?v=AGJ_Pk28Un
But this technique doesn't support objects residing inside the hole at all.

I'm sure there is SOME solution, but I can't wrap my head around what it might be right now.
