A balm for book buyers.
“It is foolish to think that you have to read all the books you buy, as it is foolish to criticize those who buy more books than they will ever be able to read. It would be like saying that you should use all the cutlery or glasses or screwdrivers or drill bits you bought before buying new ones…. “—Umberto Eco

@shanecelis @gwendolenau one of my old girlfriends and her knitting/crotchet friends had the acronym “SABLE” for Stash Acquired Beyond Life Expectancy - which referred to all the yarn they bought with no possibility of using it all before they died.
Buying stuff, yarn or books, is not always about _using_ it as intended, sometimes it’s about just _having_ it.
(I am a bit embarrassed to admit I own some vinyl I’ve never (or at least not yet) played, because I stream it when I want to hear it, but I still want to own it on vinyl.)
