About 20 years ago I was reasonably impressed by Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within in the cinema. 15TB of art assets, averaging 90 minutes of render time per frame on the 960 workstation cluster used to produce the final release.
Today, on a single 5 year old GPU, in 16ms (real-time) the results (using at most dozens of GBs of assets) are often more impressive (& our big home 4K TVs approach cinema's fidelity). 16ms offers about a third of a million new frames in that 90 minutes render time.
