...Wow, I seriously did not get a tactical combat game or a JRPG or an Elder Scrolls RPG or a time management game or an MMO on this list? I might play too many genres...
Plant Tycoon has for years been my number 1 small game archetype that I'd like to either play a new one or participate in making one. Or a similar but multiplayer game like Reptile Breeder Game.
Number 2 small game archetype I want to play/make is a mount racing and jumping game - I have loved these since chocobo racing in FF7 and been frustrated for 20 years that there has never been a standalone chocobo racing game. Tokyo Jungle is a similar concept but with combat and survival instead.
Farming sim or open world survival sim would be my first choice of a big game to work on developing, though the problem with open world games is that they are almost all 3D, but I am a #2Dartist . (Vector art mainly.) Most of the actual game projects I have worked on have been JRPGs because a lot of people want to make one of those.
As far as tactical combat, the Disgaea series is almost perfect IMO, though I also like oldskool things like Eternal Eyes.
@sunandshadow I think a game like Starbound should qualify as an "open world survival sim" and it is 2D. In my opinion, we need more games like this.
