I have always been fascinated by this complex civilization that we know so little about, mostly due to the destructive way that Spanish conquistadors under Cortes (with the help of non-Aztec indigenous peoples) and their priest’s destroyed so much of the writings, or sent some of it back to be forever buried in the depths of the Vatican library. They destroyed a city that was larger, more advanced and cleaner than any European city of the era.
