Badass Britt :mastodon_lgbt:<p>Hey - this one is for folks in the academic and education space… do you have any tips for note taking when your only sources are a textbook and written lectures from your prof? No journal articles or PDFs. I’m finding it a bit challenging. </p><p>I’m looking to design a note template for my eink tablet to create better organized written notes. </p><p>I am familiar with the typical formats like Cornell, Outline, Mind Maps, etc. I’m curious to know what works for you and why? Tell me about the layout you use. Tell me how you revise and dial into your studying/learning from your notes. How do you use written notes for recall? </p><p>I’ll take all the help I can get :) </p><p><a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/academia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>academia</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/academicchatter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>academicchatter</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/school" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>school</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/learning" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>learning</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/eink" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>eink</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/notes" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>notes</span></a></p>
Patrizia<p>Today I read my first paper that I suspect might have been made using generative AI.</p><p>At first I thought it might have just been an awkward translation (most of the authors are employed in a country whose native language is not English) but there were other issues: typographical problems, redefinitions of acronyms, and ultimately a lack of actual content or contribution.</p><p>The authors wrote a GUI that used the API of a generative AI company, and provided selections for tone and length of response. A lot of space was taken up discussing tangential matters. The journal claims to be peer reviewed, but having read this paper I find that hard to believe.</p><p>What is the most appropriate way to handle this - ignore and move on? Report to the journal? (What if it is just a review mill? What are the potential consequences?).</p><p><a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/Academia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Academia</span></a><br><a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/AcademicChatter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AcademicChatter</span></a><br><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://a.gup.pe/u/academicchatter" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>academicchatter</span></a></span></p>

I'm still super happy about the floating design. Most of my PhD writing was done in that upstairs room.</p><p>Also some garden retaining walls from pine trees felled on site and chainsaw ripped (by me).</p><p>Because of precarity, had to let this place go a decade ago. Bibliolater 📚 📜 🖋<p>**Narcissism and Affective Polarization**</p><p>“_We argue that the personality trait of narcissism (entitled self-importance) is an important correlate of affective polarization.
