#Bazzite #bazziteos #bazzitelinux
For users who want to try Linux, I recommend this: Do not listen to people who tell you to use Ubuntu, Linux Mint or other variants. They all use the same complex and often breaking mechanisms, and can cause a lot of hassle.
Instead, I recommend these systems:
- #Fedora #AtomicDesktops
- #UniversalBlue #Aurora #Bluefin #Bazzite
- #HeliumOS
Looking forward to #SerpentOS too!
These systems are reliable like an Android phone, while offering you more freedom.
Ugh, Bazzite upgrade just borked a bunch of my Flatpak `.desktop` files and icons. Naturally it's in the one part of my setup that's _not_ atomic, and a rollback didn't fix anything
Thanks for all of the input on Linux distros! I decided to go with Bazzite for now. I know it's not #CachyOS or #solusos but I tried Solus Budgie and had a few issues with it, such as inconsistent theming and small text that was uncomfortable to read. #Bazzite has been great so far and it's immutable, I've been wanting to try an immutable option for a while, and it's been working out well!
Had an awesome time talking about #bazzite on Linux Saloon!
I’ve now been using #Bazzite (desktop) and #Silverblue (laptop) for some time. I don’t think it’s worth it.
I like the idea. Sandboxing is kind of appealing. But realistically no Debian box failed updates for decades and there are quite a few. And I don’t have tons of software installed anyway.
Installing software like Docker is super annoying. Flatpaks feel less table than installing the same software via apt / yum / dnf.
Atomic spins aren’t bad, just not enough value that I’d recommend it.
bazzite is running well on rog ally x, everything works fine, just couple of things that still need adjusting, but i can't seem to figure out how to scale the steam keyboard, it's kinda small, i can't find anything to change this, any suggestions?
Looks like there's a similar ujust runner for #bazzite like the #bluefin cli tool group: https://docs.bazzite.gg/Advanced/bazzite-cli/
Handy!
I just miss this stuff when I'm futzing around on a server but I suppose the
CLOUD NATIVE
response would be "why would you ever log into a server you absolute wet wipe?
i got tired of hearing about how great linux gaming is outside of steamdeck so i got a 4TB NVME drive (Crucial is very affordable at that capacity and I can't use 2TB anymore) and i pulled my win11 disks that use bitlocker, and swapped out a SATA SSD i can cable up inside the enclosure and moved a lower cap one to a little ventilated 2.5mm SATA JBOD i use. \o/
so i am installing #bazzite with nvidia flavored KDE. if it works for my needs i'll start newfsing everything to #zfs
#householdIT
Been fighting with a weird bug / issue in Bazzite, and (knocking on wood) I think I may have finally figured out what triggers it?
For the months now, I would have an issue (at least daily) where my center monitor stops updating the picture. If I don't resolve the issue (typically by ctrl+alting to a diff session and then back) quickly enough, eventually the remaining screens would stop updating, and the entire system would hang.
This problem seemed to get worse when I tried using Floorp for my browser, so on a whim I've tried going back to a diff browser as my daily driver - and specifically using Vivaldi (Chromium based) for my always-running-twitch-stream.
And so far, the issue hasn't resurfaced...? Again, knocking on wood?
Like I'll be truly happy if that issue is resolved with this, but am going to be very irate if there's just some weird intersection of firefox fork / nvidia drivers / video streaming / bazzite that I discovered, causing this hang. :/
Bazzite is a custom Fedora Atomic image built with cloud native technology that brings the best of Linux gaming to all of your devices - including your favorite handheld.
So I got fed up with the accumulated errors I was having with PopOS and switched to Bazzite with a clean install. So much better! I was able to install via secure boot, no more having that causing problems. The experience is basically the same, desktops wise and I like the multiple tiling options for different windows.
But the best part is that several games that crashed or played terribly before work flawlessly under Bazzite.
Project Warlock used to crash every time I would try to use an upgrade station, but now it not only works, but has a better framerate too.
My newest purchase, Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous, also runs like a dream via Proton. And it's still on sale for $3.99. Great dollars to hours ratio for that one.
Anyone else using Bazzite out there? Any suggested tips & tweaks? What should my paladin's stats look like in Pathfinder? Let me know!
Bootc as a project is one with tons of promise and lots of community support. It's what is powering the next generation of Atomic Desktops, CoreOS, and Fedora IoT, not to mention all of the work that @UniversalBlue has done to show off everything that can be done today.
If you want to follow bootc more closely, regular updates from Fedora's end are shared here. :)
Finally updated #Bazzite on my Legion Go.
- Why is HDR turned on ?! It looks horrible overexposed
- Why is Ptyxis falsely named Terminal?
- I know it is now the default in F41,
- but it can not do a reasonable fullscreen !
- Device feels a LOT slower than F40 I had on there before...
- might consider a rollback ...
- though this does not solve future use
*sighs*
ToastyBros on Youtube made a great video about building a small form factor PC for living room #gaming using #Bazzite !! Shows Spiderman 2, Sekiro and a few other games running great.

oh damn, this bit in the changelog is particularly interesting for me:
When running in a VM, system will now default to the desktop sessionMaybe that could be how future, "general" #SteamOS behaves on a generic PC that isn't a handheld? tho I reckon, like #Bazzite etc. there will prolly be a way to change the default session to gaming mode.
