A random thought for no reason at all: When japanese car companies want to sell cars in the US they don't just build them there. They have design teams creating variants and whole new models to fit the market.
US cars don't sell in Japan because US carmakers aren't putting in the work. Never mind being the wrong style or type of car; never mind being too large for local roads and parking spaces. Most models on offer don't even come with right-hand steering.
Yesterday afternoon Sacha ordered her new #motability car - she's ordered a Vivid yellow #Ford Capri. They'll give us an estimated delivery date on Friday.
The #ev charger will be arranged shortly.
It's exciting on the one hand, but a real pain having to change #cars every 3 years when we are used to our Toyota and there's nothing wrong with it. Plus it's not always easy budgeting for the regular down-payment for the replacement every 3 years.
Sacha loses a big chunk of her #PIP for the #car, but it's a vital tool for her to get to the exercise classes she needs to stay mobile and fight off depression; she also needs it for her not infrequent hospital appointments.
Neither the council gym nor the hospital are accessible by #publicTransport from where we are (the hospital is only about 3 miles away but it's two buses and takes an hour!)
But we stopped off on the way to the garage and had a lovely lunch at a new-to-us café in rural #leicestershire at Ulverscroft Grange.

One huge thing that government must do to get more people buying #EVs is to get more charging points installed. That includes on-street chargers outside homes with no driveways, and many more public charging places
