As proof that I still exist, here's another piece of original score from my 2022 game "WHITE LIGHT". Lighting & color transitions in this video are cued to what's happening in the scene, I just set the camera away from the action, because it's basically the end of the game, and I'd rather not spoil it.

I recorded some instrumentation live and programmed the rest with Dreams' excellent sound design suite.

I am deeply disappointed that #DreamsPS4 has better instrument libraries for FREE in a literal kids game. And yet if I want to actually make music, I have to buy sample packs that cost like $150 USD that don't even have this much quality.

No I am dead-serious, look at the music people have literally made in this game with these free libraries:

#WritersCoffeeClub 2.1: Intro: Self Promo.

Let's see...
I'm Dan Burley, and I'm a #author (who is in the midst of #writing a series of #crimefiction novels), an #editor, an #artist, a #musician, and a fledgliing #gamedev / #indiedev.

My latest release is the #DreamsPS4 cinematic novel "WHITE LIGHT", and I am on track to release my next book, titled "If I Dig Too Deep", by the end of this year (FINALLY).

If you're interested in any of that stuff, I have a Linktree: linktr.ee/DanBurley

I'm gonna go ahead and make this a thread of different #music I wrote for "WHITE LIGHT", because I think it would be nice to have them somewhere other than the #DreamsPS4 ecosystem.

I first wrote this track for a book ad, but shelved it. When I got 'DREAMS', I used it to learn the music tools. Again, I'd like to mix it better, but, you know...deaf. When I did the arrangement, I was thinking of old anime scores.

Here is a medley of #music I composed for my #DreamsPS4 cinematic novel "WHITE LIGHT". I made it for...a thing, but figured some here might enjoy it, too. What's here is mostly the main theme and variations of it. I'd like to mix it better, but am unfortunately quite deaf. I did the best I could! Most instruments are programmed, but some were played live (mostly guitar stuff).

#WritersCoffeeClub 12.12: 2/2

I have stories planned for specific media, and I plan to tell them all. Will I *get* to? Unlikely. But, the biggest ones I will absolutely get to, and the biggest of the big ones is planned as a game. Over 3 years, I solo-deved a game in #DreamsPS4 to kind of test the waters and see if I really wanted to be a dev, and it was one of the most creatively-fulfilling experiences of my life. Now that I have that experience, I know I can do it...but with a team this time.

#WritersCoffeeClub 17: Do you draw out maps/floorplans/diagrams/etc for key set pieces in your writing?

Yes, but those designs are unfortunately trapped on the hard drive of a computer I can't get to boot up anymore. However, I have also used Dreams (#DreamsPS4, #MadeInDreams) to create some of the spaces, and here are a couple of the ones I'm comfortable showing off.

Clockwise: Brownstone (top floor), child Elizabeth's room, adult Elizabeth's sunroom, and Reggie's main apartment.

#WritersCoffeeClub 31:

I love throwing horror elements around. In all of my currently-available work, these come in the form of either real world horrors or as bad dreams experienced by the narrators.

My latest work, the #DreamsPS4 game White Light, takes place 100% in the dream space of Reggie Harper—a former homicide detective-turned P.I.—whose mind tortures him with vivid nightmares every time he attempts to sleep.

The most frightening thing I've written? It's not released yet, so...🤐
