#FTW. The #Sanskrit word "tumula" (तुमुल) can mean "tumult" in #English.

Merriam-Webster mentions the possibility of tumult deriving from Sanskrit but only tentatively. Wiktionary and a few others I have access to make no mention.

Just realised that #German "über" looks suspiciously close to #English "hyper" and must surely come from the same Greek original (presumably ύπερ?) It's not far from "over" either (English, Norwegian), suggesting all three might be related. #language #etymology
