Dusk of the Delaware River
I’ve been working a lot, really a lot, so I should take a break
But when I do have free time, I end up fishing or hiking… so it may not be exactly a real break
What is a break?

- tributary of the Schuylkill River
A pretty stream flowing through the valley in the woods
I didn’t fish it, and probably won’t, but discovering a new stream always makes me happy

It’s been an incredibly busy week, I definitely need some fly fishing tomorrow
The weather is going to be warm, a lot of people will be out there too
I should go to a quieter, less crowded areas
Reminding all tomorrow is #FishingFriday . It's the perfect day post a fishing photo, comments, question, and stories. Your preferred fishing method, or species doesn't matter.
Catch and release is encouraged.
Stories must contain a minimum 25% truth.

Walking around while my son’s at a soccer tryout
Raining all day, and the creeks keep rising
The rain won’t stop until morning, water will be very high tomorrow,
but can’t wait until Sunday, I will go fishing tomorrow

There’s no soccer game or swim meet for the kids this week, a bit sad, but I will go fly fishing
Pike are primordial looking and have a threatening appearance that they can make good on. Their teeth are like needles, their gill covers like knives. [E]xperieced pike fishers use long handled hook disgorgers to handle them.
They are the only fresh water game fish that I can think of that were named after a weapon of war.

No time to fish tomorrow
It’s the opening day of trout season While it may not be the best day for fishing, it’s more of a ceremonial event, and it’s a great day to see people out enjoying the outdoors and the tradition.
I’m ready, just in case I find a moment to sneak out there
It doesn't matter what your favorite past-time or hobby is. Crafts, photography, fishing, biking, wood working - what ever it is - enjoy it, immerse yourself. Look around, use all your senses, be present.
Because all of it could be taken away in a moment without warning. We fool ourselves out of kindness, thinking we have some control over life but that often is not what happens.
Every good fishing camp has a good camp dog. I think it's a law.
Their jobs include greeting boats when tieing up, checking out the catch, bear alarm, jumping in the water for no reason, going cabin to cabin to look in the windows to see if anyone is there, begging for something to eat if someone is inside, and pushing in the door and sleeping in the cabin if they feel like it.

Looks like I have time to fly fish tomorrow
In March, I have to drive a bit farther to reach creeks that are open for fishing. While those spots are generally considered better, I still prefer fishing closer to home, even if the conditions aren’t ideal for fishing

This IPA is really good, especially after staying late in the lab due to a strange gas smell issue
Thankfully, it wasn’t anything serious, so now I can just enjoy this beer
Sixpenny Creek might be a great spot for some fly fishing this weekend

My son’s soccer practice field tomorrow isn’t near the stream I would like to fish, but there are a few streams open to fishing nearby, so I might check those out instead

Starting this week until April 5, I need to drive a bit further to fly fish because my local streams are closed to fishing. While I may be fishing "better" streams, like Class A streams, I much prefer somewhere closer to home
When you boat into camp on a Friday evening with a week of nothing to do but fish, eat, and sleep, you can feel all your worries and anxiety leaving your body, and you are filled with gratitude.

This area, below the confluence of Darby Creek (left) and Ithan Creek (right), is usually an excellent area where fish gather. I’m sure they were there, but my flies were ignored, except by a twig I managed to pull from the bottom

Last weekend - fish were probably under the ice sheet. I sent a fly underneath from upstream, but it didn’t work
The ice should be mostly melted by tomorrow when I plan to fish

A very long rod with a fixed-length line would be ideal for this situation - no need to walk on the thin ice or to worry about the fly line getting caught by ice. But, I had my standard 9-ft fly rod with me
I do have a 17-ft keiryu rod that I should've brought along

A lot is already planned for this weekend, but I’m still hoping to find myself in this environment over the next few days
