We will look how to identify Japanese cherries and fruit trees, as well as recording the pollinator species using blossom in the park. In January 2021 Russell designed and delivered a large planting scheme of 44 cherry trees as part of a national Sakura Cherry Tree Project (following a major Heritage Lottery Fund refurbishment of buildings in Springfield Park). Previously Russell helped create and managed the community orchard in the park and ran a 5 year restoration to save its old Pear tree. LT proposed an express bus service from Clapton Pond to Marble Arch, reducing the usual 45-minute journey by 15 minutes. #Hackney was likely to be the first area to benefit, with #buses running at three-minute intervals during peak times and every six minutes on weekdays. The service relied on reserved bus lanes, including dedicated bus bays at stops, to avoid delays from stationary vehicles. Proposed traffic measures included all-day bus lanes and tidal lanes on busy roads. Around 30 double-decker buses were to operate, with a redesigned interior for 74 seated passengers. The success of the service depended on effective enforcement of traffic rules.

Clipping from LT News, No 1 - April 6 1973: A new express bus service to central London is planned by London Transport, provided that the Greater London Council creates special priorities like continuous bus lanes. Hackney is likely to be the first area to benefit from this. The service would run from Clapton Pond to Marble Arch, cutting the usual 45-minute journey by 15 minutes. Mr. Derek Keeler, deputy traffic chief, said that with reserved tracks along most of the route, the service could offer high speed, frequency, and reliability. Buses would stop every half-mile, with connections to the Underground and key shopping areas in the West End. During peak periods, buses would run every three minutes, with a basic service every six minutes. However, traffic management measures must be introduced to ensure priority for buses. London Transport proposes about 19 bus bays at stops to allow express buses to pass stationary vehicles without leaving the bus lanes. These measures include all-day bus lanes, tidal lanes on about three miles of road, and 'buses and taxis only' restrictions on Oxford Street. To ensure success, mobile traffic wardens may be required for enforcement. Around 30 vehicles would be needed for the service, which would follow the current route 38. Double-decker buses with 74 seats would be used, with crew operation.
