The Nazi's declared modern art "degenerate art" on the grounds that such art was an "insult to German feeling", un-German, Jewish, or Communist in nature.
Trump is doing the same with our #history. We must #SaveOurHistory
You can't deport history. But that didn't stop the bigots in charge from trying!
We restored a page they deleted on #Latinx #LGBTQ spaces that shows off six spots in America where these unique and fabulous members of the #LGBTQ community thrived.

1) when you see Sarah Betencourt's track record of #investigativejournalism, you know this is solid reporting https://www.wgbh.org/people/sarah-betancourt
2) if you bear in mind there's now been multiple reports of WHITE Westerners getting illegally & secretly detained by #ICE (i can think of the case of that Canadian woman from LA), you can imagine the scale of illegal #detention and #deportation of #Latinx and brown people in the US. The top of the iceberg!
In #USElections, the Democratic Party has traditionally been able to count on the #Latino vote. Not so in 2024: Many blamed the Latino community for the outcome of the election. Angela X. Ocampo from the University of Texas at Austin sheds light on the political behavior and priorities of this important and diverse voting bloc
I see you, Multnomah County Library, and I appreciate everything you do for our community, especially for people who are particularly vulnerable right now.
Educating and creating safe spaces and communities are be even more important now.

San Francisco is defending #trans immigrants with legal and housing aid. But while #LGBTQ #Latinx people have higher rates of substance use disorder, there are few truly safe spaces for them to undergo #recovery. Now a couple is stepping up and providing one, and they’re transforming lives. Learn more in this episode of our podcast “Civic.”
Substance use is high among #LGBTQ #Latinx people, who can face scorn in #recovery programs — even in #SF. Now a couple is stepping up and providing a safe space, and they're transforming lives. Latines need our own social media. We had it back in the day. I think it's time we make something.
We're clearly unwelcomed and it's time we take the hint. Shit isn't getting any better than what we see today.
So white people simply didn't know about 2025, but Latinos think "women belong in the kitchen"?
Three day old post. No comments underneath. Please, tell me how you'd like me to react to this, Mastodon?
I am #trans #transfem
I am #latinx
I am #nonbinary
I am at risk since the election and I am afraid. Many of us are.
We #queer folx are looking to feel safe and have options.
If you can, send money to a trans person you know. Direct support does more than donations to a large fund that over looks the people around you more often than not.
A few people have been kind but I could use more. If not me, send money to someone.
Love you.

We know there are non-latte liberals who believe Trump is a threat to this country right? We remember the dude who tried to assassinate him?
Maybe we want to be a little more thoughtful in our discourse when blaming an oppressed group for the demise of our democracy?
Maybe a little more discretion from News shows watched by millions?
We gave you Lin Manuel Miranda and this is how you behave?
#ToxicMasculinity: An Outcome of #Colonialism and its Effects on the #Latinx / #Chicanx #LGBTQ+ Community
by Monica Martinez
2019
Abstract
"This research examines masculinity in the Latinx community within the U.S. Much of the theory behind masculinity involves discussing toxic masculinity and #machismo. To do this, I look at film, poetry, and literature to discuss how toxic masculinity affects #QueerLatinxs. Although this research focuses on fictional characters and the analysis of fictional works, these characters’ stories do not fall far from current LGBTQ+ Latinxs who may be experiencing the same issues. I examine La Mission, Mosquita y Mari, Gun Hill Road, 'I am Joaquin,' 'La Loca de la Raza Cosmica,' Rain God, and What Night Brings. These pieces work well with one another to show how gay Latino men, Latina lesbian women, and transgender Latina women are affected by toxic masculinity, internalized homophobia and transphobia. With this research I hope to show how the way we construct #masculinity as a society, should be reconfigured to something more positive; I also hope to eliminate #homophobia and #transphobia, as well as violence and #HateCrimes towards the LGBTQ+ community."
