"Cheek to Cheek" is a song written by #IrvingBerlin in 1934–35, specifically for #FredAstaire, the star of his new musical, #TopHat, co-starring #GingerRogers. In the movie, Astaire sings the song to Rogers as they dance. The song was nominated for the Best Song #Oscar for 1936, which it lost to "#LullabyOfBroadway". The song spent five weeks at #1 on #YourHitParade and was named the #1 song of 1935.

Nobel Prize winner and former Costa Rican President #Oscar #Arias said on Tuesday that

Arias, 84, was president between 1986 and 1990 and again between 2006 and 2010.

Locals were arrested, vehicles were damaged and the gates to animal pens were breached, allowing sheep to escape.

The attack follows another major one on Friday, during which settlers beat Palestinians with iron bars, resulting in at least two major head injuries.

Despite all the praise (most deservedly) heaped upon the wonderful animated film #FLOW, including a damn #Oscar, only about 0.14% of the US population has bothered to go see it. Yes, you read that right.

And worldwide isn’t much better.

It’s such a shame.

Go see it while it’s still in theatres. (And hey, just by seeing you’re extending a middle finger to Disney.)

Hamdan Ballal: Oscar-winning Palestinian director attacked by Israeli settlers and arrested

A Palestinian director of the #Oscar-winning documentary No Other Land has been arrested by the Israeli army after masked settlers attacked his house.

According to five Jewish American activists who witnessed the attack, #HamdanBallal, one of the four directors of the the film that documented the destruction of villages in the West Bank, was surrounded and attacked by a group of about 15 armed settlers in Susya in the Masafer Yatta area south of Hebron.

The witnesses said that a group of soldiers arrived at the scene alongside other settlers dressed in military uniform, who chased Hamdan to his house and handed him over to the military. ‘‘The settlers destroyed his car with stones and slashed one of the tyres,’’ another witness, Raviv, told the Guardian. ‘‘All the windows and windshields were broken.’’
