Good night! #3GoodThings
1. Closed my fitness rings today and my unbroken streak continues. 💪
2. I am so inspired to try a new quilting method I have in my head and with any luck, I can get some solid fabrics ordered soon as well as batting. Learned about a binding technique that will so work for me. 😁
3. Finished the 11th book in the Elm Creek Quilts series. Only 12 more to go! 📚
Sleep well and may your dreams be out of this world. 🤗🫶❤️🫂 #GoodNight #Quilting #AudioBooks #Fitness

Borders added! There’s a few buildings that need a touch more fabric paint, but luckily I haven’t rinsed the dye I made up yet

When quilted, this one will be called Suffragist City, a name that has utterly delighted me the whole time I worked on it

(just an aside - I know as a U.S. women’s suffrage-themed quilt this technically should have been purple and yellow, but that color combo is nails on a chalkboard for me, so 💜 and 💚 it is)

Continued thread

Now I got into a bin with Precious Treasures. Antique patchwork, my old quilt project pieces, handwork I don’t want to toss out. But whenever will I find time to make anything to gift from them? Ah me, maybe a granddaughter will inherit a box or too and then be torn about keep vs. save. Look how nicely I used to hand quilt. I can’t bear to throw that block away. Note the yardage next to it marked to have a much larger quilted wreath. Sigh

Spent today quilting the white rose pillow and it went really wrong. The quilting bunched up weirdly, probably because I was using a poly fabric for the batting

But even worse the black thread I used left dye marks! Thread! I’ve never had bleeding from thread before

I’m still hoping I can remove all the stitches and maybe wash or bleach the dye out carefully. I really want to save this piece

Late night crafting. What you do on a friday evening: cutting fabric, basting your hexies, maybe place a few stitches? 😁 It's for (another 🙄 - hello, #ADHD) new project. I want to make a classic grandma's flowergarden Quilt for me to sleep under when it's cold and I try to use mostly upcycled fabric for this project.
(So - if you have old clothes or cloth made from woven cotton/viscose with a nice floral pattern that you don't want anymore - I'm your person!)
This cloth I'm using here is from a beloved jumpsuit from my kid, which is too small now. Other flowers I made from a beautiful indian top I never wore. The blue center is made of linnen cut offs from my first byzantine garb I made for my #LivingHistory hobby nearly 10 years ago.

Finished the hand embroidery — for a person who doesn’t do a lot of hand embroidery, I’m okay with it

Not sure whether/how I’m going to quilt this. I kind of want it to be more squishy when finished, with that karate chop decorator look to the pillow. Quilting gives it too much body, but maybe I can find a softer batting than I normally use

I went to the national quilt-in in DC today. Just a little sprinkle of rain but otherwise great weather. It was wonderful to meet other women who care about what’s happening with our government at the moment, and do some sewing.

I sewed something! I've been using this as a reward to myself for spending time organizing my sewing space. The fabric is Shweshwe fabric scraps I was given. The bag is just a simple zippered pouch. I quilted the outer layer to help the pouch stand, using batting scraps. Basically a free bag!

The log cabin quilt swatches. It’s a matter of taste, but I am not loving the pink and white combo. The cream/white looks better to me. Happy to take other views on board. The scissors are for scale because think it’s harder sometimes with just a ruler to see how small this is. I did of course make a mistake in the piecing of the cream one but if you don’t tell I won’t mention it!!! The finished patches are tacked in the seam allowance, so larger than the actual size. #MiniQuilt #No52 #quilting #HandSewing
