DORO<p>I finished RoboCop: Rogue City and I'm glad that this game exists. It doesn't conform to modern conventions and the state of the art and deliberately harkens back to times long past. You also have to accept that it's at best an A-production that doesn't always know how to shine (the frame rate in the last mission is pure hell). If you like the RoboCop movies and their atmosphere, you'll be happy with this game. DORO<p>RoboCop: Rogue City is odd (I like it). Although it’s 3D in more or less open levels, it often feels like a 2D side-scrolling arcade shooter. There’s not much finesse in terms of movement, just pull the trigger. The whole game feels like a throwback to a bygone era, and I think it’s done well. DORO<p>I started with RoboCop: Rogue City, which is part of PlayStation Plus. It’s part walking simulator, part police simulator, and part first-person shooter. Peter Weller voices the Tin Man and does a very good job. Other characters are visually based on Nancy Allen and Robert DoQui. taxet<p>So I played through RoboCop: Rogue City and I’m a bit divided.</p><p>On the one hand, it plays really well, though the aiming and such on the Xbox wasn’t really all that great (though when I realized you can turn down the graphics things improved dramatically) and the story is a decent 80s action movie plotline with all the cheese and tropes attached. I happen to like that sort of thing so it was excellent even if the story kinda seemed to grow too tired and maybe even a bit boring towards the end—though that might’ve just been due to the fact that there is a reason those old action movies rarely go beyond the 90 minutes or so, and that’s because the plot usually doesn’t stay fresh and interesting enough beyond that and this game tries to take it a lot further.</p><p>Then on the other hand there’s also a lot of bugs. Or… well ok maybe not as much direct bugs, though there are those too, but mostly the AI seems a bit weird at times and that can kinda kill the mood. There was also some weird puzzle design choices that made no sense to me, like for example there was a small puzzle where you need to restore power by going to a fuse box and turn some switches on in the correct order to turn it back on. As a hint (I at least assume it was supposed to be a hint) there are numbers below the switches, but for the life of me I was not able to figure out what the fuck are they supposed to mean. I tried to find some note or whatever that would’ve explained what the correct order is supposed to be but there was NOTHING that mentioned anything even remotely related. I mean there are only a few switches and there’s no fail state for failing—the puzzle just resets—so you can easily brute force it, but the fact that you have a puzzle where even all the guides just say the solution is to brute force it is just bonkers and not that great design in my opinion.</p><p>And that kinda goes for the rest of the game. There are great moments but there’s also a lot of these random “what the fuck is this” things that keep popping up and while you can live with them easily, they do lessen the experience somewhat. But then again this is not a high budget triple A game, so some jank is to be expected I guess. Still, given how high quality the indie scene is these days, the standards are not as low as they used to be so it’s fair to assume that the players expect more.</p><p>But all in all it’s a very decent, mediocre game, and I mean it in the best way possible. The industry NEEDS more mediocre games to fill out the gaps between the the high budget experiences and all the live service junk. They usually cost less and are fun for a few hours, and they are just games. Just pure fun, like more games should be.</p><p>So if you haven’t played it yet, I can recommend it if you at least somewhat like the 80s action movies and/or RoboCop specifically. It’s a decent RoboCop interactive movie-like experience that maybe overstays it’s welcome a bit but at least not so much that it moves in to your basement and you couldn’t make it leave. Sabandijo<p>Robocop: Rogue City finalizado. Jugado en PS5. </p><p>El juego rescata y remezcla muchos personajes y conceptos de las dos primeras películas, añade alguna cosa nueva, conserva un poquito de la crítica y el humor (muy poquito), no es la mejor historia, pero entretiene y va en la línea del material original. El antagonista es un tío muy carismático que recuerda mucho al malo de otra película mítica.</p><p>Gráficamente se siente raro, la ciudad se ve de escándalo mientras los personajes parecen tener mucho menos detalle, es como si se hubiese trabajado con assets de librerías diferentes.</p><p>Se deja jugar muy bien, Robocop es un tanque lento, torpe y con mucha potencia de fuego, aunque no es invulnerable y hay que ir con cuidado, el juego es extremadamente violento y gore, el modo de apuntado, conversación e investigación es muy reminiscente de la película y hay cierto componente RPG que te permite personalizar y evolucionar tu arma y personaje de formas muy palpables.</p><p>Tiene la licencia de la música original, algún tema similar y han compuesto una única canción de rock que se escucha en todas partes, hay un punto en que es hasta cómico. Tanto que lo menciono dejando muchas cosas fuera, como el poco trabajo dedicado a hacer que sus personajes parezcan personas fuera de sus conversaciones o los anacronismos como los CDs y diskettes de 3 1/2 en una oficina donde sólo hay disketteras de 5 1/4.</p><p>En fin, lo encontré de oferta y aunque al principio me costó un poco lo fui disfrutando más y más cuanto más jugaba. </p><p><a href="https://tkz.one/tags/RobocopRogueCity" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RobocopRogueCity</span></a></p>

The action feels right and the atmosphere nails that of the movie.
