Continued thread

A suivre…

Played #DeadCells on my #SteamDeck before bed. It's been a while and I got terrible at it. Even with only one boss cell I had to go into Assist Mode and tone everything down just to make it past the second biome.
On the other hand, I can go back to a #RogueLegacy2 NG+ Thread with nine burdens enabled and never have to touch House Rules.
Both games are similar but Rogue Legacy 2 gives you orders of magnitude more ways to permanently boost yourself. Dead Cells only really has new equipment unlocks after you get all the Runes. Rogue Legacy 2 has an entire tech tree and, even after you get the Heirlooms, you still have lots of armor sets and runes to unlock.
But I can play a quick game of Dead Cells, 15 to 30 minutes. Rogue Legacy is going to cost me an hour at least unless I save and come back later.

#TrinityFusion is another one I like.

What do you call these? Side scroller Metroivania games with roguelite progression and map randomness after each death?

#MetroVania #MetroiVania #MetroidVania #RogueLite #RogueLike

Anyway.
Good night.

@steamdeckhq just posted an article about the most played games on #SteamDeck that could be informative.
Valve Releases List of Best Steam Deck Games of 2023

That said, it does really well for slightly older games and tons of indies that are in early access and not yet certified.
Check out the ProtonDB website to see what games that might not be certified actually work just fine.

I'd personally recommend
#VampireSurvivors, #SoulstoneSurvivors, #Brotato. Just about every game in the survivor / bullet heaven genre plays fine since the controls are normally so simple.
#DeadCells, #RogueLegacy2, #TrinityFusion. There are tons of these metroidvania-rogueli[tk]e games that work great.
#BaldursGate3 has a wonky controller interface, but that hasn't stopped me from putting in over 200 hours on my deck. The #DivnityOriginalSinEnhancedEdition interface is much better even though it's the same developer. #DivinityOriginalSin2 works well, too.
If you like #ARPG games, I've played a few such as #GrimDawn (which works but does not have official support), #VictorVran. I tried #DungeonSiegeIII which was a disaster (it also didn't play well on the deck).
#ElderScrollsOnline works surprisingly well once you get it fully installed and configured. It's the only MMO I can play on my deck.
I put about 20 hours into #Tyranny when I first bought my deck in late 2022.

Edit:
#Warframe should be another MMO that works on the deck, but I haven't played it in a few years so I haven't tried.

@neku

First person games make me motion sick so I cannot recommend any of those. Some apparently run great on the #SteamDeck.

Here are some of the games that I've played on my Deck that played very well.

#VampireSurvivors
#DeadCells
#Hades
#RogueLegacy2
#BaldursGate3
#DivnityOriginalSin2

#ElderScrollsOnline takes a little bit of effort. You have to use the keyboard interface to agree to all the EULAs after the first install but you can switch to the controller interface after that.
It's the only MMO that I play that runs well on the deck. I force it to stay 3rd person so it doesn't make me sick.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head based on the games I remember playing for the past year.

Check out protondb.com for general information about compatibility.

@drmikachu @LadyIrene Now I don't suffer from Arachnophobia, but I really like how handled this by replacing its spider protagonist with a cute little fur ball. Also, in there's a setting to gradually remove features from spider enemies, leaving only two floating blobs and a pair of red eyes at the highest level.

I'd say the House Rules in have brought me the most joy personally. Without the ability to half the enemies' HP, I'd probably have just stopped at NG+.
