Today is #SeaWednesday, so here you go. One of the recent seascapes with some nice flow.

After all, it's Wednesday - the Day of the Sea

For #MeerMittwoch and during the COVID lockdown period we still managed to take a break under restrictions, spending a few days along the coast in #Weymouth where long walks with sea air was the order of business. This was when many cruise ships were anchored off shore as well. There are two in view here - both Marella ships - but Cunard and P&O also had vessels visible from the beach.

We're on a beach of fine, warm-toned pebbles, with the water's edge running from the bottom right of view to a small sand bank on which there are boulders amassed four or five deep above the surface to form a protective barrier a dozen metres long that stretches from left to right at around chest height. The sea is calm and grey-green in tone and it stretches to the horizon on the right but meets low, distant cliffs in hazy silhouette to the left. Far from shore, at sea there are three ships visible. One is an unladen cargo carrier and it's passing in front of one of the other two ships, dwarfed in size by them. They are both similar-looking cruise ships and it's just possible to make out a waved pattern of dark blue and white on their hulls with some lighter blue elements elsewhere, including the single funnel stack that each has. There are some patchy areas of blue sky in the clouds that are brightly lit by the sun to the right but carry the threat of rain in their dark masses to the left and above.

Auf dem Bild sind zwei Angler zu sehen, die an einem weiten Sandstrand stehen. Der Strand erstreckt sich weit, während Wellen sanft an das Ufer schlagen. Der Nebel verleiht der Szene eine gewisse Mystik, und die Angler halten ihre Ruten in der Hand, geduldig auf einen Biss wartend.

### Stimmung und Wirkung
Die Stimmung des Bildes ist ruhig und nachdenklich. Die monochrome Farbgebung und der Nebel erzeugen eine melancholische Atmosphäre, die zum Träumen und Reflektieren einlädt. Es vermittelt ein Gefühl von Einsamkeit und Verbundenheit mit der Natur.

For #MeerMittwoch here's a view of #Portsmouth from the sea, showing the historic waterfront with the Round Tower and Hot Walls to the right then the Spinnaker Tower and HMS Warrior to the left beyond Spice Island. Taken from the paddle steamer Waverley in 2022.

A mostly overcast day although some blue peeks through the thinner sheets of cloud in the sky, but it feels fairly warm. We're on the sea and with a small bit of wake present to the bottom right on the calm, green-blue water's surface we can tell we're at the aft of boat heading away from the land we're looking back at. That land is low-lying with a shallow beach on the right backed up by medieval stone fortifications around ten metres high with a couple of slightly larger towers on them, the leftmost of which is very round. The shoreline then becomes a wall of boulders for flood and erosion protection from the sea and this continues left almost fully before disappearing back on itself behind the spit of land here. An eclectic range of townhouses line the shore there, some up to five storeys in height. In the distance to the left there is a tall tower in white with a sharp spire and glass-fronted viewing areas high up. It bulges out with a skeletal white framework that represents billowing sails. Leftmost of all in the distance we can see masts rising up from an old sailing ship that's docked.

Black Head for #seawednesday

We're in the Burren in Co. Clare again. It's a very special place. It is the only place in the world where Artic/Alpine and Mediterranean/Subtropical plants grow side by side. This is due to the unique karst landscape and its microclimate. It is home to about 1100 plant species out of the 1400 species in the whole of Ireland. There are also two butterflies that live there - The Pearl-Bordered Fritillary and the Brown Hairstreak which are not found anywhere else in Ireland.

Oh! There's also a really cute fox that my Dad has basically adopted.
