Trying alternative #SearchEngines and it seems @StartpageSearch has stopped posting on #Mastodon (even stopped posting their own articles) and only posts on the fascist bird site... and though it's based in the EU (but uses US based Bing AND Google on its back end) I'm trying their settings but I can only set my Search Location to US places? 😵

@danie10 Something came in to my mind:
When #searchengines do not list results from #peertube it is no surprise, that people don't find that content!
I don´t know about others, but I'm using #qwant since long now and they don't. I just messaged them via their contact form about that. Don't know, if anybody ever really thought about that.
Wondering, if @Qwant is official... ^^

I have no idea what’s going on …
I search for “maapl.net” and I get everything except for maapl.net

Is it being blocked my microsoft (DuckDuckGo uses Bing)?

I was able to get to it a few days ago (great search I/F by the way, based on searxing search metaengine/db)

Now, zip! Can’t get to it.
Anyone else not seeing it in their search engines? Does anyone know why?

So I discovered something neat. Ignore the VULGARITY, I'm trying to trip the family safe stuff. And 'cock' has enough homographs to plausibly not want to straight up filter it, like "fuck nuts".

But using this technique, appending a symbol+number or number/letter, it pulls other definitions from whatever site they're scraping and highlights them.

Took a few minutes but I got it to finally admit that sometimes 'cock' can be dirty. Take a shower.

63% of my followers are #discoverable, only 34% are #indexable (by #searchengines). Most new followers are still coming from my prev. #mastodon #instance, #fosstodon.org. Might be the local timeline, it was way more interesting/less random than here.

Want to know about your followers, too? Check out this tool I’ve built (hosted on the #IPFS). It’s a non-commercial side project; not collecting any data – simply sharing what I’ve built:

Search Engine Land: As AI scraping surges, AI search traffic fails to follow: Report. “Google’s average search click-through rate (CTR) was 8.63%, according to the report. However, the CTR for AI search engines was 0.74% and 0.33% CTR for AI chatbots. That means AI search sends 91% fewer referrals and chatbots send 96% less than traditional search.”

@ai6yr Don’t mean to hijack the thread, about search engines, but seems the same goes for browsers.

Many people recommend Vivaldi. A blog post they created just a couple months ago says Vivaldi won’t use ai, but if you look at their new Translate Feature, it’s run by ai. Did they do an about-face? Or am I misunderstanding? Is it a feature you can just turn off? vivaldi.com/features/translate Not finding many people talking about this.
