If you're looking for escapism that also has political relevance, I will join everyone's praises of 1000xRESIST -- it's an incredibly rich narrative game, with plenty to say about authoritarianism (grounded in the story of Hong Kong's pro-democracy movement).
Beyond that, it's great sci-fi. You're sure to find echoes of other tales ("Arrival" came to my mind), but its layered story is very much its own.
Expect a playtime of at least 10 hours or so. Played it on #SteamDeck with no issues.

KDE Plasma is pretty great. Easily the friendliest Linux desktop experience I've ever used. Yes, the follow-up jokes to *that* write themselves, but it actually is an objectively nice interface.
