OTIS RUSH & MAGIC SAM
The Other Takes 1956-58
1980 UK Remastered MONO Compilation

Two legends, no waiting, on a disgusting, gray, rainy Saturday afternoon.

Otis on Side A, Sam on Side B.

I’ve always loved “21 Days in Jail”, and it’s the perfect closing number to the Magic Sam side.

In regards to Otis, he’s always been one of the most underrated of all the bluesmen, and his version of “Little Red Rooster” is still my go-to version.

Been spending the last month moving around and reorganizing my music shelves. It's mostly done at this point.

Top Left: K-Pop shelves.
Top Right: Majority of my vinyl collection
Bottom Left: J-Pop, K-Pop, Future Funk, Anime vinyl shelves
Bottom Right: CD Shelves

AL WILSON
Searching For The Dolphins
1969 U.S. pressing

One of the most beautiful (& criminally underrated) #soul albums.

Al Wilson’s voice is soul-stirring on this, his 1st album. Particularly on “I Stand Accused”, “Do What You Gotta Do” & “Who Could Be Loving You (Other Than Me)”.

The 2008 CD reissue has a bonus disc, & the last song is “Falling (In Love With You)”.
That 45rpm single on Carousel is 1 of my 3 grails ATM.
Super pricey, & hard to find.

EGG
Egg
2024 Reissue

I’ve wanted an original press of this for a long time, but there’s two problems with that.
1. I’ve never SEEN an original.
2. Even if I did, I’d have to drop a couple of hundred bucks AT LEAST.

Today, I saw this reissue and had to get it.

This is one hell of a #psychedelic #prog record, and probably my FAVORITE of the genre from the late #60s & early #70s .

A hell of a bouquet of sound for just three dudes.

TERENCE TRENT D’ARBY
Introducing The Hardline According To Terence Trent D'Arby
1987 Canada pressing

File under:
A very VERY poor man’s Prince.

D’Arby thought he was more talented than he actually was. Although this album IS very good, it was all he ever had to offer.
This didn’t turn out to be “the most significant thing to happen to music since Sgt. Pepper’s” like he told everyone, & the rest of his career was, well… can we call it a CAREER?

JOHN PRINE
John Prine
#70s Canada reissue

This album is like an old friend; a total comfort record in every way, by an absolute genius, and one of the greatest songwriters of all time.

Prine’s first FIVE records are utter works of art, shining beacons in an endless sea of #1970s singer/songwriters.
After that, his work maintained a level of quality throughout the decades that few artists, regardless of genre, can rival.
I miss him dearly.

PARIS WORKING
The Paris Working
1983 U.S. pressing

A blind gamble that paid off handsomely.

A short, but excellent #synthpop / #newwave listen.

These 5 songs were their ONLY songs, as it appears this was their only release.

A pretty obscure but fantastic little E.P. for fans of the genre.
The guitar work on “Pieces Of Heaven” is really great, and sounds like it could have been in an #80s John Hughes movie.
