#JabRef got a new cool new feature, to quickly see where bibliographic information is still incomplete. You might think, JabRef has already an Integrity check? Well, this feature's key focus is primarily on identifying missing required fields and to providing a quick overview.

Read more about in our blog post.

JabRef’s Blog · JabRef’s new Window for Bibliography Consistency CheckHi, I’m Priyanshu, an engineering student in Computer Science. In this blog post, I’m glad to introduce you to a new feature that I worked on - a window for checking bibliography consistency in JabRef.

Surely, prestigious peer-review astrophysical journal, I cannot wait to create a profile and login into your system just to tell you I am not available as unpayed reviewer of a paper I have not the slightest competence about (which you could have noticed by having a due diligence about by profile).

A "no" via email is not enough?

Toooo bad.

Towards #sustainable space #research in #France

During the 2024's quinquennial scientific roadmap of @cnes, a specific group worked on setting recommendations to decrease the #environmental footprint of #space #science activities.

Our correspondence to @NatureAstronomy highlights the efforts of the french space research to move towards sustainability. It relies on two complementary methods: decarbonisation and frugality.

Colleague just got a clearly AI-written peer review. Citing non-existent papers and scolding her for the mistakes which aren't to be found in the manuscript.

I wonder what would be a good line of action? Shouldn't be citing a non-existent papers by a reviewer a reason for referee recusal and banning from #PeerReview at least at this publisher?

@Techmeme This is the danger of closed source

These are knowledge models, and they only output what they are fed with

And no, they won’t magically develop ’reasoning skills’ and be able to sift through propaganda. NOT when it’s part of the training

To think otherwise means you don’t know shit how they work

They obey statistics. Training data for #ai #foundationmodels should be subject to public #academic scrutiny. Otherwise the models are bound to fall for flooding attacks

The only kind of AI girlfriend/boyfriend company I could tolerate, is one where they leave when you’re a violent douchebag.

There seriously needs to be some kind of #public #academic scrutiny to how virtual humans that school our children to behave should be like.

How these systems behave is not trivial. Our pack animal brains learn from them. That’s how childhood works, can’t change that.

No punishment for psycho behaviour won’t work good for us as a whole.

Universities must resist the fascist coup that is being perpetrated by the US regime. What they seem to be doing instead is capitulate without a fight. Here's what I wrote to my university's president the other day (fwiw), in response to his reassurance that "Cornell follows the law".
