So #Today I made a choice . I’m not filling a #prescription because the price and my insurance coverage made it , while not completely unaffordable , expensive enough so that it would blow an enormous hole in a fixed income budget . We’d have no buffer for emergencies and while the spouse isn’t happy about my decision they support it .

Both sources, who were not authorized to speak publicly, said they expected the policy to come from the agency that oversees #Medicare and #Medicaid health programs.

The first source said he had been told directly by govt #health officials that they were exploring such a policy, which he described as a mid-level priority for the #Trump Administration as it tries to lower #drug prices.

In an executive order yesterday he paved the way for the importation of medicines from countries where they are cheaper, in a direct move against Big Pharma that often charges US customers around three times the lowest prices levied outside the USA.

This will surely be a popular move, but not with the Pharma sector, which (one must conclude) have done too little to seek favour at the Court of the Tangerine Tyrant.

For decades, American Big Pharma has been scheming to undermine Australia’s Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS), which has given Australians access to some of the cheapest medicines in the developed world. Their goal? Higher profits at the expense of affordable healthcare.
