Global climate change and soccer (football) are having a moment in Miami. At #CopaAmérica , unruly fans and/or unprepared staff had to close gates due to crowd rushing and gate crashing. Game time was delayed by almost an hour. Even at 8pm, it was 87°F (31°C), and people had many issues with the heat and the lack of water. Being in the United States, water was only available for purchase (capitalism extracts from all of us).

A good bit of of these spectators arrived by plane and/or large SUV. A tiny minority arrived by public transportation.

Game time delayed 1h15m. That's an extra 75 minutes in that heat.

The Civilian Office of Police Accountability, or #COPA, on Tuesday released ♦️body camera footage showing the fatal shooting of #Dexter #Reed by Chicago police officers ♦️during a March 21 traffic stop in the 3800 block of West Ferdinand Street.
Reed had been pulled over for
👉purportedly not wearing a seatbelt.

COPA in a statement said preliminary evidence🔸 “appears to confirm” 🔸that Reed fired first before 💥officers responded by firing 96 shots in a matter 41 seconds. 💥

Mayor Brandon Johnson called the footage of Reed’s death “deeply disturbing” in a hastily scheduled appearance at City Hall, where he was flanked by Andrea Kersten, the head of COPA, and Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx.
“I’m personally devastated to see yet another young Black man lose his life during an interaction with the police,” Johnson said, adding that shooting a police officer could never be condoned or excused.

As for the cop being shot. He was shot in the wrist. That's NOTHING compared to BEING MURDERED!
