The Tasmanian King #Crab is one of the largest crab species in the world. Male crabs can weigh up to 17.6 kilograms (39 pounds) & have a carapace width of up to 46 centimeters (18 inches), while females are much smaller, rarely exceeding 7 kilograms (15 pounds).
Found off the southern coast of #Australia, living at depths between 20 and 820 meters. They prefer rocky and muddy sea bottoms and are most commonly found at depths of 110 to 180 meters during the summer and 190 to 400 meters in winter.
