The #MobiTwin project has published the description of the project data, and is looking for interested collaborators to study #RegionalEconomics #Migration #Commuting #SeasonalWork and #CrossBorder mobility.

The data contains mobility data for seven types of mobility across Europe, and will become fully open-access after the project, but it can be shared with collaborators now already 😉

Schematic of the data structure. The data contains information on the regional characteristics of NUTS 2 regions, seven types of mobilities between the NUTS 2 regions, survey conducted on reasons for regional mobility, and data for microsimulation models. The different sections of the data are linked by the NUTS 2 regional IDs of the NUTS 2 spatial layers.

#30DayMapChallenge Day 4 #Hexagons comes from @haavardaagesen showing the locations of geotagged Tweets from cross-border movers in Europe during 2021–2022. The data is used in the #BORDERSPACE project lead by Olle Jarv to study cross-border mobility.

Study of the mobility is crucial in the #EU as the #Schengen agreement allows for free mobility between member states resulting in little official data on the characteristics of cross-border mobility.

A map of Europe showing geotagged Tweets aggregated into H3 hexagons at level 6. Most activity is in the BeNeLux countries, Germany, UK and Ireland. Elsewhere the activity is along border regions and in larger cities.
