Considering picking up another #AoS army, but specifically just the Spearhead. I find the format to be just deep enough to scratch the itch, but also streamlined enough that I can finish a game quickly.
I currently have #DaughtersOfKhaine and I'm considering the #Sylvaneth or #LuminethRealmLords, mainly due to aesthetics.
Anyone around that can sell one over the other?

I didn't mention it but before leaving for Germany, I assembled the rest of the Spearhead Fire and Jade box (another wall, and two scatter pieces), as well as added the base coat on the skin of two murder ladies. I even fixed Broken Foot again.
I'm on my way to the in-laws, so I don't know when I'll have time, but I took my Reaper paint case and my dryads, to be ready for it.

I did some base coats tonight. As usual, I was super slow, but some things got done at least.
More was planned but the foot of that mini broke again, and several branches of the tree decided to imitate it.

Got thoroughly trounced in 3 players Warcry game. I ended up with 3 points, the first player had 10, and the second 8.

One murder musician coming up. I think I'm getting there for the skin. I believe I have too many steps, I can probably eliminate the two darkest shadows.
I'll try some variations on further murder ladies.

New day, new murder girl. It went a bit better than yesterday, until I reached the lighter colors. I think it's the lesser quality of the paint, but it might be the jump is too high, even with the extra steps.
I also added a wash on yesterday's model which I felt worked ok.
Lastly I tried to take better pictures which led to smaller pictures, not sure why or how

What am I doing wrong? Whenever I try to do thinner layers, I end up with pooling and tide marks, and even though I try to build up the layer, it still doesn't look smooth. At this point I'm about ready to give up on layering

Morathi-Khaine the Shadow Queen made it into the case! Hopefully she does well in the monthly painting contest and I'll see you all in 4th!

Started painting Shadow Queen today: this is a very impressive model, lots of details but with that comes lots of nooks-and-crannies to get into. I'm glad I did sub-assemblies, but maybe I should have done more? Experimenting with the colors, lots of layering and glazing.

Hope everyone's having a good day, I managed a bit of progress on some Witch Aelves; just started the color blocking, but since it's been ridiculously humid and I've been unable to prime models, I'll call this a win!

Having finished the Cauldron of Blood it's time for something a little less intricate, as a treat! The Endless Spells in AoS are some of the most fun models to paint, and since they're formed of magic who cares if you pick out all the details? But in this case... a blood snake is made of blood, so of course it's (three different shades of) blood red!

I decided to push forward on the Blood Cauldron, and I have now reached a point where I'm happy with it. There's always more things that COULD be done, but I'm calling it here before becoming lost in the weeds.

I'm at that weird stage with a model where I need to decide if "enough is enough" or go all in and keep at it forever.
What do you all think? Should I keep finding more and more details? Also, is there anything glaring?

I was absolutely slaughtered in yesterday's game, the dice were on strike as far as I could tell.
Regardless, painting progress today! I'm hoping to finish the Avatar and Blood Cauldron this weekend; the attendants and Slaughter Queen will need to be throughout the week since I can't prime today due to rain.

Challenged myself to a one-day paint and I'm rather proud of the results. I still need to apply the technical paint but since that has to happen after I apply varnish, I'm saying challenge complete!

It's a rainy day outside, which means it's been a great day to stay on the couch painting and "watching" movie(s). I had 'Employee of the Month' up first and now I'm 2 hours into 'Gettysburg'. Given there's another 4 hours to go, I should be able to make some pretty good progress! Working on the #DaughtersOfKhaine for the Dawnbringer Crusade, and as soon as this unit is done, I'll be done with the Vanguard!

Today's painting progress is Krethusa the Croneseer. I've got all the clothing & straps blocked in,; wings & hair are done, so I've begun on the skin. As with the rest of the army, I'm going for a dark elf/classic drow skin tone.
I will say, this is a lovely model with a lot of details and I hope I'm doing it justice.

Color blocking on the Daughters of Khaine has started. I've begun with the cloth bits so that I can continue to put off learning how to paint Dark Elf (Drow) skin. I have the Reaper "Drow Skin" Triad of paints, but it's a weeknight so i won't be experimenting tonight, probably this weekend though!

Meant to post last night, but it was getting late and I took the "sleep" option.
Assembled the High Gladiatrix model last night, and it is fiddly! Also, felt bold and managed a head swap using a Witch Aelf head.
