FEMA quietly removes access to New England coastal erosion hazard tool

Planners and resilience experts say long-term erosion maps had been critical

The Coastal Erosion Hazard viewer on the Federal Emergency Management Agency website "predicted erosion risk across the coast for the years 2030, 2050, and 2100, and until recently was publicly accessible."

🔴 **Evidence of the Zanclean megaflood in the eastern Mediterranean Basin**

“_Our findings provide evidence for a large amplitude drawdown in the Ionian Basin during the MSC, support the scenario of a Mediterranean-wide catastrophic flood at the end of the MSC, and suggest that the identified sedimentary body is the largest known megaflood deposit on Earth._”

🌉 Sharing from a former classmate:
> I remember a time when my mother could not return home because the bridge she needed to cross flooded to a dangerous level, she had to seek shelter elsewhere until it was safe to cross. Moments like these inspired my painting and instilled a desire to create real change in my community.

> This was unknowingly the beginning of what has since become a path towards structural bridge engineering.

> For my undergraduate final engineering project, I am partnering with Engineers In Action to help design and later construct a pedestrian footbridge for the Shiselweni region in the country of Eswatini.

In March 2025, heavy rain in Queensland, #Australia caused severe flooding across the Australian outback. Some areas got more than a year's worth of rain in a week, leading to rising waters in Channel Country. Small towns and farms in southwestern Queensland were left underwater.

During the thaw period in spring, it is not recommended to go on hiking trails in the woods. Not only are the conditions incredibly muddy, so if several hikers use a trail it can get very easily damaged, but also this could harm vegetation and small ecosystems that are barely waking up from the winter.

But as we still need to get outside, there are other options. These are from a small trip to a couple of birdwatching sites nearby Yamachiche and the lovely Parc Écomaritime de l'Anse du Port (south from Trois Rivières).

We did see a great variety of birds, but they didn't give their consent for image. Maybe next time.
