@enog Could I trouble you for comments about these flies? The bowl is from a house I'm helping to clean out. #flies #flyfishing #fishing #porcelain #trout

The more time I spend in the forest, the longer I can handle my workload. I think Monday went well…hoping today does too

I hike up to this tiny forest creek once a year with my family. It’s about 3 miles in, and this pool is probably the only fishable spot around. I didn’t catch any, but got four hits, likely Brook trout. Still a healthy stream
Fish and beer….a tricky pairing, but with the right fish and preparation, it can work well

Getting really warm…
A nice find along a creekside trail this morning
It's an odd fact of life that whichever the side of stream you are on, two-thirds of the best water is out of reach on the other side.

Surprisingly, there were not many people out there fishing
It was warm, Smallmouth and Redbreast sunfish were getting active - felt like real spring I even caught a White Sucker

It’s been an incredibly busy week, I definitely need some fly fishing tomorrow
The weather is going to be warm, a lot of people will be out there too
I should go to a quieter, less crowded areas

I haven’t read a real book for a while, so I am going to read this
Thanks to @GregArcus
A brief side-to-side tail wag
I guess this deer thought I wasn’t a threat and felt safe enough to let me stay and keep fishing
Reminding all tomorrow is #FishingFriday . It's the perfect day post a fishing photo, comments, question, and stories. Your preferred fishing method, or species doesn't matter.
Catch and release is encouraged.
Stories must contain a minimum 25% truth.
Absolutely superb day yesterday for the first outing of the year. A 14" and 15" largemouth bass. Both released.
Air temp: 48 f
Water Temp: 51 f
Wind: Calm
Caught on shallow a diving crankbait.

It's a beautiful evening on the Kerma Rapids at Heinävesi. Stoneflies were hatching, and large trout were eating them on the surface. It's warm and sunny, and various birds are singing already.
Skirted bass jigs with a plastic trailer are a great all around lure for fishing the bottom. I prefer to try them this time of year when water temps are 50 f or less, moving them slowly, waiting for a "thunk" as opposed to a tap.
If you get a little sick or slightly injured, but you are not actually debilitated, you simply suck it up and keep fishing, usually out of stubbornness than actual bravery.
.... [fishing while sick or injured] although none of it is fun, is discernably better than not fishing.

The top one is clearly the sleeve ferrule. The bottom is the internal (spigot) ferrule. The middle one resembles an internal ferrule, but it’s actually a sleeve ferrule
Should I called it a “false internal ferrule”, like naming in biology? I like this rod, it deserves a more respectful name

It was a warm afternoon. I had my fly rod with me, but I didn’t fish much, just enjoyed some quality time with my family by the river
