When you're trying to move around, seated in a chair on wheels, it's easier to move while moving _*BACKWARD*_.
This makes me believe that the car of the #Flintstones was incredibly inefficient. Think about it, moving _forward_ in a seat-with-wheels is hard, while moving backward is easy.
For the Flintstones, it would therefore be a lot more efficient if they had a single driver facing #forward and breaking, and the passengers facing #backward and providing the power to move the #vehicle.

Five Questions About Trump's Alien Enemy Act Proclamation

A quick take on some of the questions raised by Trujmp's ... dubious invocation of
a 1798 statute as a basis for arresting, detaining,
and removing non-citizens with ties to Tren de Aragua.

Saturday brought with it a whole bunch of news about the Alien Enemy Act of 1798

In a nutshell, Trump signed a long-anticipated proclamation purporting to invoke the Alien Enemy Act against Tren de Aragua,
a transnational gang with deep roots in Venezuela.

Meanwhile, in a lawsuit filed by the #ACLU and #Democracy #Forward in Washington, D.C., Chief Judge #James #Boasberg issued a temporary restraining order
—first against use of the Alien Enemies Act to remove five named plaintiffs potentially being held under the Act;
and, by the end of a multi-hour hearing Saturday afternoon, against use of the statute to remove from the United States just about anyone being held under the 1798 statute.

The government has already noticed an appeal of both orders to the D.C. Circuit (where they have been consolidated), and has asked for an emergency stay pending those appeals,
so things on the litigation front may continue to move … quickly, including, perhaps as soon as this week, to the Supreme Court.

#ICE arrests #Palestinian protest leader at #Columbia, in sharp escalation of campus actions

Jewish groups and leaders immediately spoke out both in favor and against the arrest

"#BendTheArc, a progressive #Jewish group..., tweeted that President #DonaldTrump was playing on fears of antisemitism in order to pursue an anti-democratic agenda.

“The #WhiteHouse’s authoritarian actions are being falsely done in our name as #Jews, by a President and politicians who actively use antisemitism and do not speak for Jews,” the group tweeted. “We’ve been afraid this day would come since campus protests began. Free speech and education are pillars of our democracy, and a healthy democracy is what keeps Jews safest.”

The Anti-Defamation League ... praised the arrest while calling for immigration law to be followed. "

The Forward · ICE arrests Palestinian protest leader at Columbia, in sharp escalation of campus actionsJewish groups and leaders immediately spoke out both in favor and against the arrest

Last month, the Jewish-American news site #Forward reported a shocking scoop:
The #Heritage #Foundation,
the conservative think tank behind Project 2025,
is planning to “identify and target” Wikipedia editors.
Through analyzing text patterns, usernames, and technical data and employing social-engineering tactics,
Heritage aimed to reveal the identities of anonymous Wikipedia editors it believes are “abusing their position” on the platform.

In the culture of Wikipedia editing,
it is common for individuals to use pseudonyms to protect their privacy and avoid personal threats.
Revealing an editor’s personal information without their consent,
a practice known as #doxing,
is a form of harassment that can result in a user’s being permanently banned from the site.
Although this behavior is strictly prohibited by Wikipedia’s rules,
Heritage has endorsed these scorched-earth tactics in response to what it perceives as antisemitism among certain editors covering the Israeli–Palestinian conflict on Wikipedia.
