Grapefruit was super popular in the 70s and 80s in North America. (Grapefruit spoons were a common sight in kitchens.)

And TIL Tang came in other flavours, including Grapefruit.

I typically don't care for Quora, but every now and then it wins me over:

Yes, around 1971-72, Kraft experimented with this flavor and handed out lots of free samples, one per customer, which my folks probably picked up at a supermarket and were about to test.. But I saw it in the cupboard first, so I tried it, and found it kind of sour, albeit better than nothing. Low and behold, my siblings got blamed one by one when my folks thought that they had got into the Grapefruit Tang, so they were interrogated and not me. Much later the topic came up and I said Tang makes a good grapefruit flavor. AHA, THEY KNEW WHO WAS THE ONE GOT INTO THE GRAPEFRUIT TANG. The truly sad part of the story is that my grandfather in Florida had a grapefruit tree and sould send us real grapefruits anytime we wanted, so what was all this hubub about anyway?

Laut @FloraIncognita_DE sind die mir bisher unbekannten Obstbäume in meinem Berggarten: Birne, Pflaume, 3 Apfelbäume. 1 weiterer Obstbaum ist am Blühen, muss noch bestimmt werden, komme da noch schwer ran aktuell.

Zweig mit mehreren kleinen Blüten mit 5 weißen runden Blütenblättern und pinkfarbenen Staubblättern innen.

Strawberry tree (madrone) fruit in the early stage of ripening.

Besides many other uses, it is also fire resistant, a nice to have in our part of California.

As UK #fruit growers are seeing more and more #pesticide products withdrawn from approval, they are getting much more interested in biological control methods to manage pests - such as predatory insects.

So the FLYTHRIVE project is all about developing a hoverfly-based system (supported by machine vision and odour lures) to give safe and efficient aphid control on soft fruit.

Earth Day Accomplishment
Here is our new Plum Tree. ("Early Italian Plum" variety)

I had actually forgot yesterday that it was Earth Day today. So while I was a little disappointed I didn't get this done yesterday, it turned into a nice memorable Earth Day addition.

Love planting trees. It's like planting hope every time. :)

It is mounded for now because that will be the height of the yard once I move more of PondPool Mountain around.
