Anyway here's my con rundown::
- once again i'm in awe of the hard working con staff and volunteers who keep this damn thing going year after year. I'm privileged to know a few of them personally so I do see quite a bit of behind the scenes stuff. It is A Lot.
Yes, the con will be ending in 3 years' time, but i will say with all honesty that the "retirement" is well earned
- as I've grown older i've grown pickier about what panels i want to sit in. I didn't even check out any programming on Friday and Saturday my priority was the NASA panels. I only ended up in the main programming room on Sunday.
Mostly I treat this con as the vacation from real life that it deserves to be.
I missed cosplaying this year but next year I *will* have my 5th Doctor kigurumi to run around in. And at least I'll have an entire year to work on it.
- there are always some wild things that happen at cons. Here are some highlights:
- Steven Moffat just...hanging out at the hotel bar chatting. No matter your opinion of his time as showrunner, he is passionate about the show and the fandom and i still appreciate that.
- finding out that my crush on Jenna Coleman only intensifies when in close proximity to her. Who knew?
- the Rule of Furries still applied: no matter what the con is focused on, there will always be at least 1 furry
- fireworks (likely illegal) going off on Saturday night just before midnight. There were no fireworks at Disneyland when I was there so it was a weird surprise
- Girl Scouts selling cookies in the dealers hall. Yes i know they're here every year. I'm still happy about it.
- That the con is an oasis where people can be weird and nerdy and it's completely accepted and needed in These Historic Times
- I purchased items from the art show for the first time after attending the con for 14 years
- finding out that Con O'Neill was in the hotel lobby randomly because he has a mutual friend with Steven Moffat. I didn't want to be That Fan so I didn't stalk him but I'm very happy that a friend of mine who also loves OFMD got to meet him.
Anyway, enough yapping. Time to pack up and check out so I can head home and give the dog all the cuddles.
