British scientists are “over the moon” to be back in the EU’s flagship science research programme Horizon after a three-year Brexit lockout.

New data reveals they have been awarded about £500 million (€587m) in grants since re-entry.

This is absolutely fantastic news. #Brexit screwed the UK’s access to research funding and made collaboration with European universities more difficult, so re-entering the #Horizon scheme (albeit in a small way) is something to be celebrated. theguardian.com/science/2025/m

If #NSF Snoozes, #TACC’s “#Horizon” #Supercomputer Loses
#NationalScienceFoundation is front and center on proposed cuts in spending by Trump, those cuts, if they should come to pass, will undercut scientific research and computing tools that make it possible.
NSF is conduit for lots of #research and half of the spending in #US for reasonably large capability-class (strong scaling for large workloads) and capacity-class (weaker scaling for many workloads) #supercomputers.
