Eventually a huge <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/wrecker" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>wrecker</span></a> turned up, the kind that is as long as a semi with a full-sized trailer, picked up the front end of the U-Haul, and hauled it into town, to my house, where we would need to unload.</p><p>My house, in a neighbourhood from the 1910s, with tiny houses, narrow lots, and narrow streets. And full props to the driver, he parallel-parked-by-proxy that U-Haul in a space directly in front of my house that was barely big enough for it.</p><p>Got it unloaded, then the wrecker came back and hauled it away.</p><p>Takeaways:</p><p>1. Be prepared to deal with problems. Do a *serious* walk-around <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/inspection" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>inspection</span></a> for <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/safety" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>safety</span></a> issues before you even think about taking it on the highway.</p><p>3. Not illustrated in this story, but U-Haul reservations ... aren't. They might put your name on a "list" when you ask for one, but whoever shows up first gets the truck. Bobbing Boat<p>A square raft with scaffolding strapped on just zigzagged past. It was used to inspect a rail bridge from below (which passed).</p><p>The raft is large—the very opposite of hydrodynamic—so one outboard motor is insufficient to steer it. Inside the Red Head's Head<p>We are scheduled to have some folks stop over today to check on our new windows. Well… they were new a year and a half ago. They were supposed to come out a few weeks after the installation. What’s a few hours more?</p><p>Insert very frustrated sighs here.</p><p>I have a couple of errands to run that I can’t do until they leave… and it’s almost 11:00 and they still aren’t here. Soon enough I will graduate from frustrated to full on pissed off.</p><p>It gave me time to mix a song though. This is song number 40 for the 50 songs in 90 days challenge.
