@Gmr Leon The main obstacle is that Mastodon has little support for titles (except for using them to show Article-type objects instead of their full content; long story) whereas they're absolutely mandatory in the Threadiverse.

If you want to start new thread, this is how you must always structure your posts.

Title
< --- blank line here --- >
@mention (only one Lemmy/PieFed community or /kbin/Mbin magazine, otherwise only the first one will be recognised)
< --- blank line here --- >
Post text body

Comments, on the other hand, don't need titles.

Also, prepare for people on Lemmy being very irritated about hashtags. And people on Mastodon being very irritated about what your toot looks like.

@jasperb @sebastian @futurebird @Gargron @dansup @pixelfed Interesting detail from that link: "Mastodon has been developing a built-in groups feature for some time now, but it hasn’t been released yet. From the screenshots posted so far, it seems it will be more of a Facebook Groups type forum rather than a public discussion list. (You can see highly technical details and screenshots of this upcoming Groups feature on their github page github.com/mastodon/mastodon/p )

"However, it is unclear if Mastodon groups will work across the Fediverse or only on Mastodon. Guppe is platform-neutral, and will work on any kind of Fediverse server that supports microblogging including Mastodon, Friendica and others."

Lots of activity on the Github page around 2022 by @ClearlyClaire but not much since?

Also, there's a video on how it'll work, and this note: "This PR is not intended to be merged outside of purely development environments until it's finished. While it has reached a pretty stable state, groups are a complicated topic, and the database model, API and protocol design may change before the PR gets merged, with no clear migration path between versions of this PR."

Look, actual conspiring. My god.

If there's been any time to dissuade people from using the giant platforms and getting them over to the #fediverse, it's now.

#Lemmy & #Kbin are standing by to take new users and who you wanna target are people in total agreement that the current #political situation is cooked.

We have the solution, the only thing we need is adoption.

Continued thread

#Lemmy and maybe #kbin for link aggregation seems reasonable, but I haven't tried to ship this as an easily self hosted appliance as it stands, so I really need some community input on ways to bring a federated solution to allow people to speak freely but still allow for tools to moderate blatantly illegal behavior. (2/2)

Love watching Reddit decide, unforced, to torch their entire brand and supposed values in one fell swoop. Fuck that entire site and fuck it's "leadership." You grew on the backs of millions of users only to become what we all tried to escape from, and I can't wait to watch it crash into the ground. It'll be more comical than the Digg implosion when it happens.

Anyway, use Federated services like #Lemmy and #Kbin everyone and starve Steve Huffman's golden goose.

I only heard he had health issues like a year ago when he quit working on Kbin. You could probably make a post on an Mbin/Kbin magazine or one of the Fediverse communities on Lemmy, someone else may know how he's doing.
