Luke Miller<p>Here&#39;s a short story set in the same universe as my game, Liberation.</p><p>It&#39;s about a plucky little servo bot that needs to solve the murder of a high ranking official before the entire apartment block, Eden Towers, gets recycled with the residents still inside.</p><p>Enjoy!</p><p><a href="https://docs.google.com/document/d/1_3XC_DzhcN5jOXmoaEytk1rQpRHtGTPZJw8LAbPALi0/edit?usp=sharing" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">docs.google.com/document/d/1_3</span><span class="invisible">XC_DzhcN5jOXmoaEytk1rQpRHtGTPZJw8LAbPALi0/edit?usp=sharing</span></a></p><p><a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/LiberationGame" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>LiberationGame</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/scifi" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>scifi</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/dredd" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>dredd</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/fiction" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>fiction</span></a></p>
Luke Miller<p>Did a little video for the new update to my retro space adventure, Liberation. Not quite sure why I put the Space:1999 easter egg in there but the heart wants what the heart wants.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/LiberationGame" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>LiberationGame</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/gaming" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>gaming</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/elite" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>elite</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/blakes7" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>blakes7</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/space1999" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>space1999</span></a><br /><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jKfCypOzGI" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">youtube.com/watch?v=6jKfCypOzG</span><span class="invisible">I</span></a></p>
Luke Miller<p>Took a punt on replacing the police ships in the game with space punks that randomly show up and attack. A big change. Just turned on the feature for the first time and had the most fun skirmish within about 5 minutes. Game dev definitely runs on faith sometimes 😅 </p><p><a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/LiberationGame" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>LiberationGame</span></a></p>
Luke Miller<p>New mission in Liberation and at one point the lights go out and you get 3 seconds of classic wire-frame gaming. Just for a little moment</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/LiberationGame" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>LiberationGame</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/retrogaming" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>retrogaming</span></a></p>

Luke Miller<p>I consider tutorials a failure of design and work hard so people of all skill levels should be able to just pick up and play one of my games.</p><p>Obviously I usually fall waaaay short of that lofty goal but just watched someone play Liberation and they did mostly figure it out. Good feeling.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/indiedev" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>indiedev</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/gamedev" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>gamedev</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/LiberationGame" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>LiberationGame</span></a></p>

Luke Miller<p>New ship for <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/LiberationGame" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>LiberationGame</span></a> -- the garbage scowl. Even though the game is inspired by UK scifi I have to slip in a bit of Australian post-apocalyptic fetish aesthetic every now and then. </p><p>Luckily it doubles as a &quot;are you mummy&quot; / cyberman tear drop kind of thing too.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/madmax" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>madmax</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/scifi" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>scifi</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/doctorwho" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>doctorwho</span></a></p>

Luke Miller<p>New update for Liberation! It&#39;s my accessibility release.</p><p>A big focus on making it better in the visual, motor and cognitive categories. I&#39;m a big believer in the Game Accessibility Guidelines.</p><p>I try and bake in accessibility into the fundamental design but I don&#39;t always have the resources to surface all the features on launch day so pleased to be here.</p><p>Tested on my game-challenged Dad like a rat wearing lipstick.</p><p><a href="https://steamcommunity.com/games/2413940/announcements/detail/6525225191051152647?snr=2___" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">steamcommunity.com/games/24139</span><span class="invisible">40/announcements/detail/6525225191051152647?snr=2___</span></a></p><p><a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/LiberationGame" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>LiberationGame</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/accessibility" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>accessibility</span></a></p>
Luke Miller<p>My usual dev model is lots of small releases but for games I think it&#39;s more fun for everyone if it&#39;s a big release. But omg this release for <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/LiberationGame" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>LiberationGame</span></a> almost killed me, just testing for backwards compatibility took forever</p>
Luke Miller<p>New little civilian ship, the cargo tug. Luke Miller<p>Took inspiration from this amazing piece of Chris Foss pre-production art from the unmade 1975 Dune film. Luke Miller<p>New civilian tanker ship for <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/LiberationGame" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>LiberationGame</span></a>. Whether it&#39;s water, air or the Galactic Federation&#39;s most popular mood altering drug, a tanker will ship it to you promptly and for a fair(?) price.</p>
Luke Miller<p>&quot;I never had to live under Thatcher but gosh she inspired some great science fiction&quot; - Had fun with this interview with MCV/DEVELOP about Liberation</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/LiberationGame" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>LiberationGame</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/Elite" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Elite</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/Blakes7" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Blakes7</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/dredd" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>dredd</span></a></p><p><a href="https://mcvuk.com/business-news/classyk-games-on-liberation-and-bringing-the-flavour-of-classic-british-sci-fi-to-indie-space-games/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">mcvuk.com/business-news/classy</span><span class="invisible">k-games-on-liberation-and-bringing-the-flavour-of-classic-british-sci-fi-to-indie-space-games/</span></a></p>
Luke Miller<p>A pretty kind review of Liberation! Especially considering the initial release version had a few bugs.</p><p>&quot;The game that finally answers the question: What if Elite and Blake’s 7 had a baby?&quot;</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/LiberationGame" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>LiberationGame</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/Blakes7" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Blakes7</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/Elite" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Elite</span></a></p><p><a href="https://www.digitallydownloaded.net/2023/11/review-liberation-pc.html" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">digitallydownloaded.net/2023/1</span><span class="invisible">1/review-liberation-pc.html</span></a></p>
Luke Miller<p>Liberation travel machine spotted on the Godot front page! </p><p><a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/godotengine" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>godotengine</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/LiberationGame" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>LiberationGame</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/TheTripods" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>TheTripods</span></a></p>
Luke Miller<p><a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/LiberationGame" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>LiberationGame</span></a> is meant to use the input mechanic from the original Elite (pitch and roll and no yaw) but the space game scene has absolutely moved onto yaw (and mouse look).</p><p>The pragmatist in me is saying implement yaw, the romantic in me is saying no way and the historian in me is saying it&#39;s uber cool to bring back this beautiful authentic rolly floaty input scheme.</p><p>The worst outcome would be to &quot;give players the option&quot; then the game just becomes a beige mess</p>
