When nations let big corporations call the shots on public infrastructure, everything starts to fall apart.

Shocking Revelation: Tasmania's Salmon Farms at Risk for Years

As early as 2017, scientists warned the Tasmanian government about the catastrophic risk of disease wiping out fish in salmon farms. Their advice? Strengthen biosecurity measures to protect the industry.

But instead of acting, the government—under pressure from the salmon industry—weakened standards and handed out exemptions to the new biosecurity program.

Now, the consequences are unfolding. Why weren't warnings heeded? #Tasmania #SalmonFarming #BiosecurityFail #lobbying #JBSFoods

Having listened to the interview, this Let’s Level the Playing Field campaign to regulate lobbying does seem like a nonpartisan effort with some weight behind it. Led by a group of NGOs, one chaired by a former Nat Cabinet minister (TI NZ), one the personal fiefdom of a former Labour PM (Clark).

I hadn't heard of the third group, Health Coalition Aotearoa, but they helped exposed a Chinese vape company trying to bribe NZ officials;
