On vacation and I got to head back to my old stomping grounds in SF. Sure some things have changed ($20 sandwiches, Tesla swasticars everywhere) but I'm so happy that Clarion alley in the Mission is still covered with vibrant, poignant street art. Here are a few that I caught yesterday morning.

Mural of a Palestinian flag with the faces of children and others in grey tones across the green, white, and black stripes of the flag. Names (presumably of some of the victims of the Gaza genocide) are written in gold over the artwork. In the red portion of the flag is a quote attributed to Saekarnos, The first President of Indonesia at the opening of Bandung conference in 1955 that reads "Let us to remember that the stature of all humankind is diminished as long as a nation or part of nations are still unfree."
Mural of an otherworldly landscape with trees composed of geometric patterns. Sacred geometry designs in blues and whites create the sky. In the center of the landscape is the outline of a person. Within their silhouette is a glimpse of a run down city street corner.
A mural of a couple (seems to be two women) curled under the covers of a bed. The backs of their heads filled with long braids and white and black locks are visible. As they are snuggled together we see bright orange flames bursting over the stack of pillows lining the far side of the bed.

I repainted the colors of this oil painting today because the previous shades (you can see it in an older post here) started to feel wrong. They reflected my emotional state at the time, but I also want to strongly bring out the feeling of hope in my paintings; Hopefully it is more visible here, but the message of the artwork is the same: An old woman wondering the state of the world... Stay safe! 🕊️

Gallery : Because You’re Worth It.

My first time experimenting with acrylics. Tried pouring & splattering, wasn’t happy with the pouring (paint was too thick and flowed very slow) 😬 Need to work on this & try again. Splattering was a bit better 🤔 Enhanced the colours with photo edit for this result.
