This male mallard was really digging into the mud! Maybe it was having a spa day, and the mud helps keep their green head colorful and iridescent!
Mud is a big part of their diet as they have plant material and small organisms like worms and snails.

April 8th.
It seems like word has gotten out that our property is a great spot for wildlife to camp out. We've already had several visitors—deer, wild boar, foxes—and now mallard ducks have joined in.
The mallard in the picture, along with her mate (not pictured), spent the night here and left shortly after sunrise.

Good morning, here is your #MondayMorningMallard as photographed on Friday’s walk
More #badBirdPhotography from this afternoon. Two pairs, one of Canada Geese and the other Mallards, who appeared to have struck up a friendship.
Following on from yesterday’s post: After breakfast, the female did the catwalk thing to pose for me.
Bear in mind that they are perfectly wild ducks, though. They just feel relaxed with me and safe in our garden.
We were at NWT Ranworth Broad on Sunday. Kicking off a series of photos are this pair of Mallard.
