Sasha RomanoskyI’ve being playing around a lot with ML models for object detection on the <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/raspberrypi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#raspberrypi</a>, and it’s led to fun working with hand, body, and face landmark mapping. This video (on a laptop) uses google’s <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/Mediapipe" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Mediapipe</a>, and python (<a href="https://techhub.social/tags/pygame" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#pygame</a> and cv2) to identify, map, and color the facelandmarks. The left screen is the camera feed, which shows what an AR or face filter would look like, while the right screen is the pygame view. Pretty cool stuff.

Stayed up late so I could power through the last of them and finally post a demo of <a href="https://vt.social/tags/SnekStudio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#SnekStudio</a> using the face blendshape data coming in from <a href="https://vt.social/tags/MediaPipe" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#MediaPipe</a>.SnekStudio is my custom <a href="https://vt.social/tags/VTuber" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#VTuber</a> software written in <a href="https://vt.social/tags/GodotEngine" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#GodotEngine</a>, which has previously been using VMC data coming in from two instances of VSeeFace (with OpenSeeFace), and a Leap Motion. With this new prototype, I can now do all the more dynamic blend shapes, and camera-only hand tracking without the need for special hardware. Performance is better, CPU usage is way lower, and I no longer have to rely on software running under WINE or a separate PC for my setup.Prototype's still pretty rough, but this definitely proves the concept.Model by me, software by me (using aforementioned technologies).

This is using just a Logitech C920, no fancy hand tracking hardware!It's far from perfect, but it's been making some great strides lately!All the IK seen here is also my own (relatively simple) algorithm I made.Face blend shapes aren't working yet, because MediaPipe gives the more advanced 52 blend shapes and I only have the ones recognized by VSeeFace hooked up in the model right now. But it'll all get there in the end.
